"Take Heart" Ruffle Accessories

Today I am thrilled to share the new fabric line from J Wecker Frisch - "Take Heart" for Riley Blake Designs..

The fabric line consists of adorable vintage valentine card themed prints as well as a beautiful floral, text and geometric prints

In keeping with the Valentine theme, I made a sweet ruffle pouch and purse with my Fussy Cut Heart Pattern as the center piece.

Fussy Cut Heart Pattern

The Zipper pouch features one of my favorite images from the “The Heart Patch Panel” surrounded by the “Red Heart Cross” Print. The pouch is quilted with simple hearts in keeping with the theme of the fabrics.

Ruffle Zipper Pouch Pattern

The Ruffle purse also features the “Fussy Cut Heart” pattern with a fussy cut center also from the “Take Heart Patch Panel”. I love how the Pink Floral works so perfectly with the Fussy Cut Hearts.

The Ruffle Purse is the perfect project bag complete with a zipper closure. I used the Diamond Heart Cross Print for the second side of the pouch.

I hope you make a project with Take Heart Fabric!

Happy February!

Hi Peeps!
Happy February!

I designed this fun Fussy Cut Heart last year.
If you follow my blog, you know how much I love fussy cutting!

This pattern is the perfect fussy cutting project.   If you need some help to learn this technique, you can find my Fussy Cutting tutorial [HERE]

I also have a video tutorial on the Martingale blog [HERE]

The block would make an adorable quilt.
It is also great for small projects like this Macaroon Pouch with a fussy cut heart as the focal point.  (I shrunk the fussy cut heart to fit the center of the pouch)

You can find the pattern for my Fussy Cut Heart and Macaroon Pouch in my Etsy shop [HERE]

Spelling Bee Saturday!

Hello and welcome!
It is my stop on the Spelling Bee Saturday Sew Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop.

I made the letter "u" from the book, and decided to combine it with my Fussy Cut Heart pattern!
I also used the capital letter "I" from Lori Holt's fabulous book.

The fabric for the letter "I" is Glamper-licious from Riley Blake.  The print is Pink Cherries and you can find it at Fat Quarter shop [HERE]

The letter "u" is made from Lori Holt's Calico Days dot which is now out of print but this pink Lori Holt "Bake Sale 2" dot would work perfectly in it's place!

The"Fussy Cut Heart" pattern can be found in my Etsy and Craftsy shops.

The girl fabric in the center of the heart is an out of print Japanese fabric and the tiny gingham can be found [HERE]

Be sure to visit the Fat Quarter Shop Blog - The Jolly Jabber to see the other adorable blocks made from Lori's book.

Be sure to tag you photos with the hashtag #SpellingBeeSaturday so I can find your fabulous makes!

Fussy Cut Heart Pouch

I think I have a problem -  I can't stop making pouches!
My fussy cut heart is the perfect size for my Splendid Notions Pouch so of course I had to make a pouch.

You can find my Fussy Cut Heart Pattern [HERE]

I used a 6" finished Farmer's Wife block for the flip side.

This one is very special and you can read more about it [HERE]

The Splendid Notions Pouch pattern can be found [HERE] and you can use any 6" or smaller block.

Enjoy!

Fussy Cut Heart Mug Rug / Pot Holder Tutorial

I love to make useful items with my paper pieced blocks as you can see in my new book
I thought my new fussy cut heart pattern would make a cute mug rug.
I don't know about you, but I always have a drink beside me during these cold winter months!

The Fussy Cut Heart Much rug is 8" square with rounded corners and a fabric look for hanging.

You can also use any orphan 6" blocks you have.  Just add borders to make the block 8" square.

You can find the pattern for the Fussy Cut Heart on Etsy [HERE]
and Craftsy [HERE]

You can find the tutorial for the Mug Rug [HERE]

New Patterns in the Shop!

I hope everyone is having a good week!
I have been busy, designing and listing a few new patterns in my Etsy shop.

The first is just in time for Valentine's Day ~ the "Fussy Cut Heart" pattern.
It comes in two sizes - 5 1/2" x 6" and 7 1/4" x 8".
You can find it in my Etsy shop [HERE]

This is such a fun pattern to make.
I have been gathering all my favorite prints and making heart blocks.
They are addictive to make!

These Heart blocks are perfect for a quilt, pouch (you can use the small heart on this pouch!) or a mug rug/coaster.
I am working on a mug/rug coaster which I will share a tutorial for soon!

The second pattern I have been working on is my "Citrus Pouch".
I designed this for the Liberty Craft Blog which no longer exists.
You can now find it in my Etsy shop [HERE]

This is an intermediate pattern with both foundation paper piecing and curved piecing.
I include instructions on how to do both techniques with full color photos explaining each step.

If you are new to foundation paper piecing, I have resources on my blog {here}
