Work in Progress Wednesday - Hexie Love

Quite a few months back I was searching for vintage feed sacks on ebay and came across these wonderful pot holders.  The photo on ebay was not great but I thought what the heck.....
I was so pleased when I received them and couldn't wait to make my own version!!

I made these for my mom's birthday......

I finished the hand stitching on this one while watching PBS lastnight.

This one was started lastnight and  I think it is my favorite.  I love the yellow, brown and red combo!
The center print is a reproduction of a vintage feed sack.  The teapot and two brown prints came from vintage feedsack and the yellow prints are from the soon to be realeased Moda line Glamping.

Have a lovely day!

Vintage Feed Sacks - Thrifty Saturday

I wanted to share some new feed sacks I purchased from Ebay.

The colors are looking really fresh and Fall to me.
Love the Red, Brown, Gold and Green combo.

I was so excited to find the top feed sack!
The bottom print is a Japanese print by Kumiko Fujita if I'm not mistaken.  I find it fascinating that the only thing changed from the original is the scale and the addition of some text. I also noticed that the holly leaves and berries are replaced by a stalk of celery : )
I got the Fabric from Ayumi's fabulous shop on Etsy.
I think it looks great with the previous feed sacks pictured.

I love these sweet colors and motifs!

This little booklet has some fun quilting patterns.  I think "Night and Day" may be the next block for the "Vintage Block Quilt Along".

Have a lovely Day!

Fabulous Vintage Fabric

I had the best evening last night.  I was introduced to a friend's mom - Marta, who shares my passion for quilting.
Marta is so creative and talented.  An accomplished artist, potter and quilter.  And she crochets.......
I wish I had brought my camera!  Her house is full of amazing artistic vignettes.  So cool and modern!  Every where you look is an editorial page for Dwell or Elle Decor!
She shared the amazing quilts she made and then shared her vintage quilt piece/top collection.  She rescues and restores vintage quilts.
She was so kind and gave me misc. quilt blocks and vintage fabric scraps she had decided she was not going to use.
OH My!!!!!!  Look at all this loveliness!!!  I am one lucky girl!!!!!

I'm absolutely in love with these feedsack squares.  The muslin squares they are sewn to are in rough shape so I'll be  happily taking these blocks apart.

These are my faves from the vintage fabric scraps.

I have a stack of these beauties.  They will be a great hand sewing project.
The prints are so perfect!!!

And here is a picture of all the goodies.
I had an overwhelming feeling last night that I wish I had another lifetime just to sew.... there are just not enough hours in the day!!
