It has been such an exciting month for me. First I was published in Quilmaker's 100 blocks and then Stitch Magazine. Stitch is by far my favorite sewing magazine. I have been reading it for years. About a year ago I thought - why not submit some project ideas. I had lots of ideas and was excited to get them made into actual items. Fast forward 1 year and here I am - two projects in Stitch!!!
I'm so honored and excited to be in the magazine!!
The first item is the gathered clutch and coin purse. It is really easy to make. It is so much fun to pick a fun fabric for the center focal point! The clutch is just the perfect size to carry your wallet and a few essentials. I designed it with a removeable strap so you can also use it as a pouch!
This is the one featured in the magazine. The center fabric is Shasta Daisy by Suzuko Koseki for Yuwa and you can find it at Sew me a Song!
I made these this afternoon!
Here is the other side of the coin purse. Just love the Kokka Print! You can find it here at Pink Castle Fabrics.
And here is the other side of the clutch. The center panel is Fashion Sewing by Suzuko Koseki for Yuwa and the polka dot fabric is Small Dots in Aqua by Riley Blake. You can find both fabrics at Becca's shop Sew Me a Song.
The Second Project is"Quilt Blocks Sachet Trio". These are a fun and easy gift to make.
They are each 4" square so you can use some of your most prized scraps for this project!
The Pinwheel and Spool Sachets are paper pieced and there is a great tutorial for paper piecing each one in "Stitch".
The Petal Sachet is appliqued.
Amber, the editor of "Stitch" did a great video tutorial on paper piecing a pinwheel which you can find here!

ReplyDeleteWow! Congrats on having your patterns published. The only presents I'll be making this year are a quilt and a hat for my mom, but that's more for her birthday than the holidays.
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh, I'm not sure I want to list everything I need to get done before Christmas . . . but I'll put down a couple of front burner projects. I've decided to make a big pillow for my oldest niece. I've made the pompoms (it was a tutorial from Sew, Mama, Sew! for the Mondo pillow), and I've started piecing together the front of the quilt. And for my younger niece, I'm making her a duffel. There is a dearth of duffel bag tutorials on the web, so I'm kind of winging it - well, let's just say that I already made one for myself, and now I'm refining the process. Thanks for the giveaway! Have a happy Thanksgiving. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being published! Such cute projects! I am making some scrappy pot holders, and some cute lttle zippy pouches as gifts. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHooray!! Cute projects....I am making a lakers quilt, motorcycle quilt, and houndstooth quilt with a steelers fabric back...and 2 other quilts for truckers. One is quilted and I have to do the binding. 1 is ready for the quilter, one is on the design wall waiting....and the lakers one is still in the download and print photo stage.

How very exciteing. Congrats on being published. This is a wonderful give a way. Thanks for the chance to win. Im excited about what Im making. My sons girlfriend (first serious one) sews a lot also. But she has no cover for her machine. Opps thats a no no. LOL Plus she is totally into horses, she has a degree in Stable Management and has two horses herself. So I am making a machine cover with a paper peiced head and neck of a horse on the front. Never paper peiced before and not only finding it challenging but fun as well. LOL have done a lot of ripping out. But it is turning out really pretty.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being published, I love these little clutches they would be great stocking fillers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to enter this competition.
Congratulations!!!! I am making some pincushions, mug rug and some potholders.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your clutch/coin purse pattern! I'll definitely buy the magazine, just for this!
ReplyDeleteThe past several years I've been making a lot of gifts to give for the holidays. This year, I have some pj's on the agenda, maybe some little notebook covers, some gift bags.... and I'm not sure what else :)
Fantastic news on being published - congratulations, you deserve it. I love the clutch and coin purse. I think my favorite is the one with the sewing machine in the middle. Too cute! Thanks for the opportunity to enter your competition, I'd be thrilled if I won.
ReplyDeleteI make most of my own gifts for the holidays even if you only get brand new hot pads.
ReplyDeleteThis year, I'm a bit stymied because of unexpected 6 days/wk with overtime at work messing with my free time. I bought some handmade gifts at local bazaars - hand-crocheted puppets for my great-nieces, a necklace for my daughter that my creative friend is re-making as the original stringing was somewhat un-inspired -- it had very cool swirly fused glass beads.
I will sit down this Sunday and make ten - twenty of the aforementioned hot pads.
Probably some small purses which are always useful and appreciated.
I like your gathered bag - might have to derail to make that.
thanks for the giveaway.
Congratulations on being published!
Congrats to you! I'm making some mini gift bags for gifts to go in and maybe a sewing kit for my quilty friends.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being in the Stitch magazine with 2 projects! So far I have knitted a hat and scarf set and made a bunch or ornaments for our annual Christmas exchange but I'm sure there will be more. Love both of your project ideas! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give-away & thanks for a chance to win! I love your work & am so pleased to see it in the magazine...way to go! I'm not sure that I'll get much Christmas "gifting" done this year. I'm presently working two jobs due to transitioning into one come January. So needless to say I'm getting quite tired. Maybe I'll finish my table runners/wall hangings for next year! LOL
