Moving my Studio

Hi All and Happy Monday!
I don't often post on my blog about personal going ons, but our particular status affects my sewing space.

We are in the middle of an epic remodel.  Well...it is really like we are building a new house!
We have moved once and I was able to purge a bunch of stuff - clothes, fabric....

Now we are moving again!!!  Yikes.

I purchased those lovely fabric boxes from Target and they are a great way to organize my fabric.  Organizing by color works best for me and my creative process.

I'm trying to keep a positive outlook especially knowing that we will have a brand new house
and I will have a dedicated sewing space.  I haven't had a sewing room for seven years!
Six more months (fingers crossed).

Do you have any tips for keeping organized?  I'd love to hear them!

Happy Sewing!

More Sunday Stash - What is in my Cart at Sew Me a Song!

I was doing a little online shopping and thought I would share what is in My Cart this Sunday evening.
One of my favorite things to do when I need a little break is to peruse my favorite online shops!

Sew Me a Song has some adorable new fabrics!

The perfume label print from Yuwa and the clover stripe from Yuwa which look so great together!

Have a lovely Sunday Eve.
Looking forward to a little Downton this evening : )

Finding that pesky out of print & hard to find fabric!

Happy New Year!!  Hope your celebration was lovely!
I stayed up 'till midnight and all the boys - even my youngest of 6, made it to midnight!
Both were so tired they put themselves to bed tonight without a fuss : )

Recently, I received an email from a reader who wanted to make the Tea time Coasters from Stitch Winter 2013 magazine with the same fabrics.  When I designed the project I went right to my stash to find my favorite icy blue prints to go with the palette.  Well.....most of the prints were out of print  (oop ) fabrics.   I proceeded to identify the fabrics and give her a few tips for finding oop fabrics which I thought I would share with you.

My first method is to search etsy.  They often have out of print fabrics but you may have to pay a bit more than the original price.   Search the print name, manufacturer, and also the designer.

Ebay is another great resource!  I was able to locate the DS Quilts Meadow Lark print pictured above for a fair price.

Last resort is to search on Bing or Google.  A bit more work but I've had good results.

My advice,  if you find you love a fabric and tend to use it over and over again,  buy a few yards,  you will be glad you did!!!

Here is a sneak peek of a project I was busy working on today for Sew Mama Sew.  It is a first muslin but I think I like where it is going : )  I'll share the project next week!

Sunday Stash

It is rainy and cold in Seattle after having 70 degree weather here last weekend!  I'm inside working on projects- one of which is a fun and easy to make garment for Sew News!  It will be in their winter issue 2013 and I can't wait to share it with you!
I did make a little time to do some shopping at Sew Me a Song.  Becca has some fun new fabrics in the shop.  I love this FQ set from Atelier Akiko by Lecien.  Can't have too many Paris themed fabrics!

After searching for my sunglasses last weekend I realized I need to make an eyeglass case.
Added to my to do list!!!
Love this eyeglass print from Riley Blake.

And of couse I can never have enough text prints.
Love this one - Antique receipts from Studio E.

  Have a lovely Sunday!
