Renew - A Spring Quilt

Today I am sharing my latest project with the new line of fabric designed by Sandy Gervais - Renew.

Renew is a stunning collection that captures the beauty of Spring. The line features florals, ditsies, a plaid and a tile pattern in a gorgeous palette of pink, bleached denim, purple, yellow and aqua. It harkens back to vintage prints you'd find on fabric and wallpaper.

I leaned into the pink color way and made the "Iced Vovo" quilt from the new book Gathered by Jen Kingswell. I love how it turned out. It is a truly sunny project : )

The book comes with templates that can be photocopied onto your desired template material. I used template plastic to make mine. You can also purchase acrylic templates for this pattern from Jen Kingswell.

If you are new to curved piecing, this is the perfect project to hone your curved piecing skills!

I can't wait to see what you make with Renew fabric!

Hey Love Bug

I have a rather long and lovely past with the VW Bug.  My parent's VW bug is the vehicle I used when I first learned to drive, and my husband and I purchased a VW Bug when we were newly married.  My husband, my self and two boys like to play the "Slug Bug" game on road trips.

Poppie Cotton has a soon to be released fabric line "Hey Love Bug" designed by McKenzie Elston, and I jumped at the chance to sew up some new projects.

The first project is a Boxy Zipper Pouch with the cute new block I designed - "Slug Bug"!

The zipper pouch is designed for a 6" quilt block so I used my new design.    Both patterns are available in my Etsy shop - Charise Creates.

It was so much fun to fussy cut the adorable motifs from the fabrics!  Bees, Lady bugs, flowers and of course Love Bugs, adorn the fabrics!

Country Confetti fabric was used for the background and small pink dot.

I used Poppie Cotton's  Seeing Spots fabric for the border on the hood.

I definitely "need" a pink VW Bug : )

The Slug Bug Pattern also includes an 8" block so I used my Free tote bag pattern and made an adorable Blue Slug Blug tote.

This 8" size block was fun to fussy cut too!

The back of the tote has a roomy pocket and I used the "Love It" print in color yellow.

The closure on the tote is a self fabric covered button - so adorable!

You can find the Free Curved Tote Bag Pattern  on my blog Charise Creates [HERE]

The back of the Boxy Zipper Pouch features the adorable "Love Bug" print.

I hope you make a project with "Hey Love Bug"

Awakening Fabric - a Daisy Bowl and Butterly Pouch

Awakening is a new fabric line designed by Cherry Guidry of Cherry Blossom for Riley Blake Designs.

A Spring themed line, it evokes new season vibes with vibrant colors and lovely prints.

I originally planned on making a quilt but changed my mind once I received the beautiful fabric.  Instead, I decided to make some smaller projects to highlight the cute motifs.

The first project I made is a fabric bowl in the shape of a flower.  The petals are fussy cut with the most adorable bunnies and watering cans using the Spring Charms print in Pink.

A hexagon make from Riley Blake's Berry POParazzi fabric adorns the center.

I love to have cute storage on my sewing table : )   It would also be a lovely addition to your dresser or nightstand.

I used that beautiful Coral Blossoms for the outside of the bowl.

In keeping with the Spring theme, I made a Butterfly Boxy Pouch.

The "Spring Palette" print was perfect for fussy cutting the butterfly wings.

The Butterfly is foundation paper pieced with embroidered antenna.

You can find the Butterfly Pattern [HERE]

I used the adorable Awakening Cheater print for the opposite side of the pouch which was the perfect size at 6" finished!

I hope you choose to make a project with Awakening Fabric!
