Kimono Sleeve Dress in Sew It All Magazine

Good Morning!

It is Another sunny day in Seattle and I am soaking up the last few days of beautiful weather before my boys go back to school.

Not much sewing going on here but I do have a project to share.

Years back I designed my Kimono Sleeve Dress for Stitch Magazine.  

Sadly, Stitch is gone but the folks at F & W Media who are the parent company, own Stitch's content and have been re-publishing the content in their other magazines and e-books.

I received word from Sew It All that my Kimono Sleeve Dress was in the latest issue of Sew it All #11.

To be honest, I had forgotten all about that design!  

It is an incredibly easy make and perfect for a first time garment sewist.

It has an empire seam which can be problematic for the fit on larger chested gals. 

Check out this handy little diagram to check for a correct fit and how to modify the pattern.

~ January ~ The month in Review

I'm shocked it is already February!  January went by so fast.  I did have some fun creating a few new patterns and tutorials.

You can find my Free Crayon Paper Piecing Pattern ~HERE~  It is a perfect beginning pattern if you have always wanted to try paper piecing. 

Once you make the paper pieced pencil why not make the pencil pouch?  it is a perfect teacher gift or fun gift for a little one filled with crayons or colored pencils.

I finished my "Tea Time" pattern which is in my Etsy and Craftsy shops.

I had fun making my Lovely Gathered Clutch with suede trim and 

I also made one entirely out of suede.

I made another short sleeve version of my Anna Blouse.  I love the Kokka camera print fabric.

Learn to Paper Piece with me in Issue #9 of Sew It All!

Hello and Happy Monday!  I am so happy to be in the new issue of Sew it All.

I have written a paper piecing article for the magazine and it covers all the basics you need to master the technique of foundation paper piecing.  I share the supplies you need, and my tips and tricks for creating a successful paper pieced block.

There is also a fun project to make - a paper pieced sewing machine cover.

The sewing machine cover is a simple project as well.

It is finished with bias tape and has pockets on the back to store your current sewing project, patterns or notions!

Sunny Seattle Day and a sneak peek!

The weather is lovely here in Seattle this morning with sunshine and lots of wind.  It finally feels like Spring though a bit on the cold side.  Speaking of all things Springy, I have  been working on my Kaleidocope quilt this week. You can find the link to the pattern [here]
I love the way the Liberty fabrics work together and am definitely partial to the pinks, reds and lavenders - such pretty floral colors.  Liberty lawns are such a joy to sew with!

I have also been working on an upcoming project for Sew it All magazine.  Here is a little sneak peek!  The issue is out in December!

I pulled some fabrics for the Pack Patch Mini Sew Along.  Look forward to sewing some blocks together!
