Barbie fabric!

When I had the opportunity to sew up some projects with the new line of Barbie fabric from Riley Blake Designs, I couldn't resist!

I first learned to sew by making clothes for my Barbie dolls when I was 6 years old
which led to a career as a fashion designer : )

The tote is a nice roomy size with a large outside pocket that holds a small Macaroon Pouch perfectly!

Or a couple of stylish Barbie Dolls : )

I used a current Simplicity pattern to make this cute dress.

The vintage McCalls pattern from 1964 was used to make this dress.

Conservatory

Conservatory is a new line of fabric designed by Jill Finley for Riley Blake Designs.
The fabric line is predominately blue and white with some pretty colors sprinkled in.

I decided to make my Hexagon Handbag in shades of blue.  The tote is roomy and is a perfect shopping or beach tote. I modified the pattern to have self fabric handles.
I used Riley Blake Linen in Color Navy for the handles and gusset.

The quilt is called "Shine On".  Isn't is beautiful?
I just love the gradation of color .

Abbie's Garden

Summer is upon us and the new line of fabric, Abbie's Garden designed by Sue Daley for Riley Blake, has me in the the mood for Summer.
The line includes both big and small florals, and some great basics in stripes and lattice designs.
And, of course, some adorable prints with Abbie in the garden.

I love to make bags and pouches and this fabric was just perfect!

I made this fun drawstring bag with a fussy cut pocket.  The body of the bag is Dark Grey Linen from Riley Blake and absolutely wonderful to work with.

I also made this sweet zipper pouch that features Abbie on a gathered pocket.

You can find this fun little pouch pattern in my Etsy shop - Charise Creates.

I'd love to see what you make with Abbie's Garden!

Pin Drop fabric

This has been a super busy sewing week! I hope you have had some time to sew : )
Today I am sharing a few projects I made with the new line - Pin Drop from Riley Blake Fabrics.

This perfect basic is designed by The Tatooed Quilter.  It comes in a rainbow of gorgeous colors.
I absolutely love this fabric and just had to make some sewing themed projects.

The adorable basket is a free pattern from The Sewing Chick.  I made the larger size with a rainbow of Pin Drip fabrics and Riley Blake linen in color Natural.  It is the perfect size to store your Pin Drop Fabrics : )

This tiny 3" pincushion is made with Pin Drop and Singing in the Rain fabric also from Riley Blake.

Last but not least, I made a scissor pouch with Pin Drop and Riley Blake gingham.  Tutorial coming soon : )

Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge

Hi there!
I hope everyone is doing well : )
If you have some time and extra fabric, remember I have tutorials and free patterns on my blog if you are looking for a new project!

I have joined the Riley Blake Designs block challenge.  Riley Blake is sharing a traditional block each week with tutorials for 6" and 12" blocks.  Head on over to the Riley Blake on Instagram - @RileyBlakeDesigns for all the details.

Here is a recap of the blocks I have made so far.

This Churn Dash block is made with Singing In the Rain Fabric from Flamingo Toes from Riley Blake Fabrics.

I love Log Cabin blocks!  This one is made with Farm Girl vintage fabric designed by Lori Holt from Riley Blake Design.  Pattern link here.

Economy Block is a great block for fussy cutting!  I used Farm Girl Vintage and My Happy Place Fabric designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs.
Click [HERE] for a block tutorial.

Friendship Star is another great block for fussy cutting!  The cute bird fabric is designed by Atsuko Matsuyama and can be found at Sunny Day Supply.
Click [HERE] for the block tutorial.

Last but not least is Nine Patch Block which is one of my favorites.  I used fabrics from my stash for these two.  The squares are 2 1/2" so this block is also great to use up fabric scraps.
You can find a tutorial to make the block [HERE]

Kite Block from "Playful Little Paper Pieced Projects"

💕In 2013 I was fortunate to be included in a fantastic book - "Playful Little Paper-pieced Projects" with many talented designers.
The publisher Stash Books, has created a paper piecing guide with 10 of the patterns from the original book.  I have 4 patterns in the book, 2 apples, a pear and this kite block!

If you are interested, the original book is still available and you can find it on Amazon and on the Stash books website!

It really is a great paper piecing reference and filled with even more blocks and amazing projects!

Log Cabin Block

Riley Blake Designs posted a fun challenge to help get us through this shelter in place.
They are sharing a traditional block each week.
The 2nd block is a Log Cabin.
Head over to Citrus and Mint for a tutorial to make either a 6" or 12" block.
I'm making 6" blocks to add to one of my many sampler quilts 😊
The fabrics are from the line "Vintage Happy" by Lori Holt of a Bee in My Bonnet.

Churn Dash Block

💙Riley Blake Designs posted a fun challenge on Instagram.  They are sharing a traditional block each week. The 1st week is Churn Dash.  Riley Blake is not providing patterns but there are lots of tutorials and patterns on the web!
I found this version on the All People Quilt website.
The block is 6" finished and I chose this size so I can add it to one of my many sampler quilts! 😊

The x kisses fabric and swiss dot fabric are both from Riley Blake.  The cute umbrella, galoshes and floral prints are from the new collection "Singing in The Rain" from Flamingo Toes also from Riley Blake.

Heart Sachet ~ a free pattern!

Happy Monday!
I hope you are well!  I have been having a hard time focusing on my "to do" list of patterns I am working on.
So with everything that has been going on, I decided to create a new free pattern!. It is a simple make but a happy make in this very strange time.
You can find the pattern [HERE]

The pattern is also great for using up large fabric scraps of fabric.
You can use 5 1/2" squares or 5" squares cut on the bias.

I filled my sachets with lavender from my garden harvested last summer, but you can also use batting or a combination of batting and lavender.
I used Liberty fabrics for my sachet.  Both Liberty Tana lawns and Liberty fabrics from Riley Blake.
I also raided my button and ribbon stash : )

Enjoy the pattern and do a little selfish sewing for yourself.
I think it is the best form of self care : )

Happy Sewing!

Singing in The Rain

Hello Lovely peeps!
It has been quite a week and I hope you are all holding up OK with the corona virus self quarantining going on!
This seems like the perfect time to calm anxiety with self care and some selfish sewing.
If you are able, support your favorite local quilt shop by placing an online order.
And I have just the perfect "must have" fabric.........

Today I am sharing a project I made with the new fabric "Singing In the Rain" by Riley Blake.
The fabric line is designed by Beverly McCullough of Flamingo Toes.

The fabrics are adorable with umbrella, galoshes, rain drops and lovely coordinating floral and ticking stripe prints.

I made a tote bag with the pinks from the line and paired it with Swiss Dots and 1/8" gingham in Hot Pink both also from Riley Blake.

One side has the fun nine patch block and the other side has a zipper pocket with a pretty lace zipper.
I found the lace zipper on Etsy.

I have listed the pattern in my Etsy shop at a substantial discount (the pattern is only $2.25 through Sunday March 22nd.)

Liberty Winterbourne Fabric

Happy Monday!

I absolutely love Liberty fabric and this collection is no exception.  The pinks and grey shades are absolutely beautiful together.
"Inspired by an exquisite Arts and Crafts period house, the collection draws upon the interior and the family who once lived there."

I designed the fun Granny style bucket bag (pattern coming soon!)  and just had to make a
fun little zipper pouch to match : )

The front of the zipper pouch has a cute little dress from my Vintage Dresses 2 pattern.

The back of the pouch is a patchwork of some of my favorite prints from the Winterbourne collection.

The fun little Heart charm is from Sunny Day Supply which I just had to add since it matches
the fabric so well!

Be sure to head on over to the Riley Blake Blog for more fun projects.
